About Us

Our hearts lie in the arms of the festival scene. Ruby Moon’s founders, Claire and Matt grew there. Parties in fields are our life blood, we brought that vibe to our business. Festival underpins our lives.

Ruby Moon was created in 1998 when a small festival-based craft stall, grown into a thriving market stall, collided with the opportunity to take on an old, dusty and deserted book shop tucked away in the back streets of High Wycombe. The place was full of old books, rat and pigeon shit, and a mound of paper three storeys high.

After weeks of clearing, finding hidden treasures, numerous dump trips in a variety of vehicles, and much painting, decorating and building, finally on the 10th October 1998, Ruby Moon was born.

We began with the idea of creating a hub for the interested and interesting community of the town. Somewhere to exchange ideas and ideals, to provide access to products unavailable elsewhere in the area. We gained a reputation for the unusual and the unique, for the mind expanding and a growing stock of fair traded and sustainable items. Ruby Moon was hailed as a ‘Festival in Four Walls’ and the journey had begun.

Our stock is eclectic, we have beautiful clothing, crystals and stones, a huge range of incense and aromatherapy,, boxes, bells and jewellery.

We are all about community and strongly believe that music brings people together. Over the years we expanded into promoting music events in the town. We’ve met so many amazing people, both at festivals while working our stall, ‘Fandangles, while playing with our bands; My Mate Dave and Dury Service. We wanted to share some of the diverse and wonderful music and artists we found with the population of our town.

The finest and greatest of these events was ‘FrogFest’ a one-day music festival right here in the centre of High Wycombe.  We worked with Gemma and Ollie from HWBIDco to bring this fantastic event to the town, and Claire was responsible for sourcing and promoting the content; Bands, solo artists, street performers and circus workshops, we’ve brought some incredible people to entertain and delight. The aim was to get the town dancing, and in the seven years of ‘FrogFest’ we certainly managed this with bells on! It was hailed as the best (and only) party in town.

We have also hosted the legendary Ruby Moon parties at Wycombe Arts Centre, and the Winter Solstice celebrations at the Belle Vue Pub. We have since created ‘Moon’s Music’ to bring more amazing music to the town.

Meanwhile, the shop goes from strength to strength, this website is the latest addition to the emporium. We hope you enjoy.
